Weight loss success - Angie's story

Angie is achieving her weight loss through a combination of iBodz exercise programs and healthy eating.  Here in her own words, she talks about the benefits of regular exercise whilst losing weight.

What led me to make a change in my lifestyle

There were a number of different things.  One of the most alarming was the rise in my blood pressure, which was undoubtedly down to being over weight.  I was prescribed so many different tablets I started to feel that I was beginning to rattle when I walked.

Despite this, it was the practicalities that swung me into action, as I was beginning to feel uncomfortable when I was sitting down - particularly during at my desk at work when my stomach was riding up as I sat down.  My waist bands were beginning to get tight and things that I could wear standing up, I could no longer wear sitting down. I was just really uncomfortable with the way I was become and something had to change.

What I did next

I started to go to a gym, but as with everyone at the moment, money was tight and I found the gym closest to me was quite pricey.  And I found that when I finished work, particularly in Winter, the last thing I wanted to do was go out again - especially to a gym!  That's when I stumbled upon iBodz

Why I was drawn to iBodz

The thing I love about iBodz is that I can really fit it into my lifestyle, rather than fitting my life about it. I don't even have to leave the house to do it. Oliver sorted me out with a great program that I could do in my lounge, with not much equipment.

How iBodz fits into my life

I come home from work and before I cook or do anything else, I refer to my online program and get cracking.  I can do it whenever I want.  I don't have to go out, get in the car or brave the weather.  Everything I need is at hand - and I can get it out the way before my partner is back home from work - which is good as I don't really want him to see me prancing around the lounge!

How it felt to be overweight

The thing I noticed about being overweight is that I suddenly felt that I'd melted into the background.  Having modelled when I was younger, I'd always been used to being appreciated for my looks - and it was quite strange to no longer be noticed.  Also, at work, I have two flights of stairs to my office - which had become quite a challenge.  I would have to grab a breather on each landing and be completely out of puff when I arrived.  Not a good look!  Looks and vanity aside, this really opened my eyes to how unfit I had become.

How I attained my goal

After about the first four weeks of doing the iBodz program, I started to notice that I was already toning up and started to lose weight.  Now that I had my new regime underway, I turned my attention to what I ate.  I cut down on my portion size and started taking an interest in the food I was putting in my mouth - this made a huge difference to my progress.  I soon realised that doing exercise and eating less really does work.

How I found the iBodz program

At first, exercises were hard. My stomach had gotten so large that I found I couldn't bend as much. So it was pretty hard work. The lack of muscle tone made simple exercises difficult.  But after four to six weeks, as my weight started to decrease and my muscle tone increased, I noticed a real difference.

What kept me motivated

I get bored quite easily, so I really enjoy the variety the program allows as it changes every month, which keeps things really fresh. Getting into clothes that I couldn't get into before and gradually feeling so much healthier.

How I feel now

I feel so much better than I did before the iBodz program.  I have so much more energy than I used to and I can run up and down the stairs without thinking about it.  I know I still have a way to go before I meet my target - but it's very much a case of work in progress. 

However, I was 'beeped at' by some young lads in a white van yesterday when I was walking to work. That hasn't happened to me in years. It really made my day!

Angie's top 5 tips to weight loss success:

  • Eat little and often through the day and never allow yourself to get hungry (especially when you go shopping)
  • Focus on the exercises you really enjoy in the program, then the ones your don't like wont seem so bad
  • Playing different types of music whilst you exercise, brings variety, and changes the pace
  • The extra money that you would have spent on chocolate and crisps and junk food, you can put towards equipment. I treated myself to a work out mat and some small dumbells
  • Look on the back of packets, not just for the calories, but more about how much saturated fat is present - you'd be surprised.
