Walk the walk, not just talk the talk

Congratulations to Phil and Nerys - my friends who have recently had their first baby.  We are all so chuffed for them - couldn't have happened to a nicer couple.  The lads were even more chuffed as it gave us a great excuse for a night out in Cardiff to wet the little chap's head.  As most of my friend's are married or partnered *sigh*, we rarely get the opportunity to do this sort of thing - so it was quite an event - and I hadn't seen many of them for a while - including my friend David.

As soon as I walked in, Dave said 'you've lost weight'.  One might think this is a compliment (it was), but for a skinny guy - it's just another reminder than I'm not Arnie.  That said, didn't I want to be ripped for the beach in Marbella?  There's no pleasing some people.

But something is obviously working - as I do feel trimmer again.  Diet is definitely one factor - I have made an effort to try and cut back on the cheese, crisps, bread and general junk.  That does make a difference.  However, the main think is that I am conciously more active, than I have been over the Summer months where I have been welded to the Mac.  I have recently made more of an effort to leave the car at home, get off a stop earlier on the tube when in London, and walk back from town on a night out, rather than getting a cab.  This, I am sure has made the real difference - which has only been helped by my occasional run spur of the moment lounge fitness sessions with Sarah.  I must remember to buy a new pedometer (since I sat on the last one). I would be interested to know exactly how far I am walking.

But one thing's for sure, with just a little effort and a small change to your routine, you can make sizeable differences - and Marbella is just two weeks away....
